Northport, NY to Milford, CT

It was a wild ride today from Northport to our home harbor in Milford! The wind picked up overnight and once we left the protection of the Northport harbor the sound was rough and wild. We estimate the waves were 6 - 8ft some of them breaking and they were short and steep. We rocked and rolled and the boat handled magnificently! Occasionally waves broke over the bow but water quickly drained...

Liberty Landing, NY to Northport NY

Following our powerful morning we took a walk around the beautiful park area by the Ellis Island Ferry. N fell asleep (having missed his morning nap he was more than ready) so Carl took F on a bit more of a walk while I put N down in the boat for his nap. I stepped on the boat, opened the door, used my knee to lift up the settee seat and was able to walk down the 2 steps to the aft cabin all...

The morning in NYC

This morning we woke up to a slightly overcast sky however, it quickly cleared up. Carl made some fantastic coffee and we had cereal and bananas for breakfast. We managed to all get cleaned up and dressed and decided to visit the 9/11 memorial. After walking around ground zero, we made our way to the 9/11 Memorial Museum. It was an incredibly powerful experience that neither of us were really...

Safe Arrival at Liberty Landing Marina in New York

We had a great trip up to New York from Cape May, the weather was perfect. The wind settled down once we passed Atlantic City and the ocean smoothed out a bit. The boat handled beautifully and we were able to maintain our 25 kt cruising speed for the entire trip except for a 30 minute lunch break when we slowed down to 15 kt (at 15 kts F's ham and crackers stopped sliding around on the table...

Underway to Liberty Landing at New York Harbor

and we're off again! This departure was already more efficient than yesterday - we're getting the hang of this now...we left our slip at 7.54 this morning and are out in the open sea. We've got the land off our starboard side (just kidding, although it is tempting to head down to Florida). The beautiful Jersey shore is off our port side and the open sea off starboard. The sea is calm and the...

First Leg Completed Annapolis,MD to Cape May, NJ

We've completed the first leg of our journey safe and sound. It was a beautiful day and a fantastic trip. We were able to average about 25 knots and had 1 foot seas. We headed up the Chesapeake to the Delaware and pulled in safely to our lovely slip here at South Jersey Marina.

We started the day with a much needed coffee from the corner cafe just up the street from Horn Point...

A bit of background - the beginning of the trip

Sorry this is out of order, but we've experienced technical difficulties! Following the Annapolis boat show we decided to take a long overdue family boat trip (family being Carl, Laura (that's me, Carl's wife), our 3 year old daughter (we'll call her F) and our 5 month old son (we'll call him N).

Carl was in Annapolis all week in the freezing rain for the show. The kids & I...
